Origin & Introduction of GUPTESHWOR CAVE:
The Gupteshwor Cave is one of the main attractions of Kusma, Parbat. Kusma is the headquarter of Parbat district. Gupteshwor Cave is actually located in western Nepal. Gupteshwor is about three hours drive in local bus from Pokhara. Gupteshwor Cave is considered possibly longest cave in Nepal. Gupteshwor Cave has attracted the attention of local and international tourists. According to local people, the ancient name of Gupteshwor Cave is “Bhaludulo“. “Bhalu” the word refers to Bear and “Dulo” refers to hole.
Before finding the Gupteshwor Cave few local men saw a very weird place covered by grasses. They began to clear the outermost part of the cave and entered into the Cave. They found amazing dark area full of various statues and portraits of Hindu Gods and Goddesses. There is strange sound of waterfall inside the cave and even the statues of “Pandav“, the mythological characters in Mahabharat and various god and goddesses like Mahadev and Parvati, Saraswati, Nageswor and so on.The scientific research shows the most of the parts inside the cave is made up of calcium carbonate dissolved from surrounding limestone. Like other caves in the world there is also the species of Bats. Whatsoever the Gupteshwor Cave has become a famous place to be visited by hindu people specially on the occasion of Chaite Dashain and Mahashivaratri.
