MAHASHIVALINGA (largest among the world)

The ‘Mahashivalinga’ has been established by the people of the Kaahun tole(Saraunkhola-9), which is situated in western part of Nepal. It lies in Parbat district under the compound of ‘Parbatiya Nageshwor Mahadev Mandir’. This mandir (temple) represents Paiyun region of this district.

‘Mahashivalinga’ has been established as the statue of God Shiva. It has more power of Shiva, so it also called ‘Jyotirlinga’.

Every ‘Mahashivaraatri Parva’(festival) devotees of different locality and regions come to pray the God Shiva in this ‘Mahashivalinga Prangand’(compound) of ‘Parbatiya Nageshwor Mahadev Mandir’. Devotees come to pray here not only on Mahashivaraatri, they flock to pray daily especially on Mondays(the day of God Shiva).

Rishi Panchami’, Saune Sombaar’, ‘Bala Chaturdashi’ are also the famous festivals of God Shiva. On the occasion of these festivals, devotees also come to pray the God here to worship for long life of their family members and peace and prosperity.
